The Hunter Gatherer (Animal-Based) Diet
Posted by PrimalRx Team on
Hunter-gatherer societies had diverse diets depending on their environment, but they generally prioritized the following types of foods:
- Animal Protein: Hunter-gatherers consumed a significant amount of meat from hunted game, including large mammals (such as deer, bison, and wild boar), smaller mammals (such as rabbits and birds), and fish. They also ate organ meats, which are nutrient-dense.
- Fats: Animal fats from meat and fish were important for energy and essential fatty acids. In some regions, hunter-gatherers also obtained fats from nuts and seeds.
- Fruits and Vegetables: Wild fruits, berries, nuts, tubers, and edible plants were foraged. These provided essential vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates.
- Seeds and Nuts: These were valuable sources of energy and nutrients, including fats, proteins, and vitamins.
- Roots and Tubers: In many areas, hunter-gatherers collected and ate various roots and tubers, which were important sources of carbohydrates.
- Insects: Insects were a significant protein and fat source in many hunter-gatherer societies, offering essential nutrients.
- Wild Grains: In some regions, wild grains and cereals were gathered, though they were less commonly a staple compared to other food sources.
Aside from the food list, the key takeaway is the prioritization - animal-based protein and fat first (#1 and #2). And arguably, other foods (#3 to #7) to fill in the gaps. Whether that was to “get full” after your individual ration from the hunt, or “avoid hunger” between hunts.
No matter the case, our primitive ancestors understood the important of hunting and eating animals “for nutrients.” And archaeological evidence also suggests they understood that the organs and innards were the prized possession.
Sadly, we’ve lost that wisdom. And most in the western, developed world have NEVER eaten organ meats. Leaving them nutrient-deficient and scavenging to “get full,” while their brain and body function at a suboptimal level.
That’s why we created PrimalRx – to educate the masses on the importance of animal-based nutrition, and offer convenient, top quality organ meat supplements. So you can add them to your diet, without having to wrap your head around cooking and consuming them.
All of our products are from world-class cattle in New Zealand (grass-fed, non-GMO, strict standards), processed without heat, acids, or chemicals, and packaged without fillers, binders, or flow agents. Meaning you get the closest thing to consuming pure, raw organs, in convenient, easy-to-swallow capsules - or simple-to-mix powder.
